icon Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering program was introduced at T J Institute of Technology in the academic year 2003. The demand for Electrical Engineers in industries, state electricity boards and private sectors engaged in electricity generation is more than the engineers available.

The Department strives to develop long term relationships with Industries and market the Student's Talents effectively. The Students are thus provided high level 'Leads and Pathways' that enable them to gain access to a broad range of 'high potential' and 'hi-tech' Career Opportunities.

Even though the Department is very young, it has made a Name for itself, among the Top few Colleges, at University level, through Seminars, Symposiums, Workshops and Conferences and through its performance in the Examinations and in Placement.

Courses Offered
  • B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • M.E. Power System Engineering

The B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering was started in the year 2003. The periodical revision of the syllabi and introduction to electronics related subjects, enables the Electrical engineers to get acquainted with the latest developments in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering field and handle the present solid state electronic devices. The Department has excellent industrial relations and institutional interactions which provide services like consultancy, designing and testing. Since the commencement of the program, the department has made sincere efforts in the development of students through training and industrial visits. The students from Electrical Engineering Department have won prizes in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The Department has a trekking group and a students' association (ELITE) for the overall development of the students.

The M.E Power System Engineering was established in the year 2013. While the First year Core Curriculum begins with a common knowledge Base and customizes Students by grounding in basic Engineering Foundation and in Critical Hands on Skills in Engineering Practices, the Course has access to enhance the Learning, Student Perspective and Experience to develop Specialization in areas of 'Electrical and Electronics Engineering'. Class room learning is complemented by Practice in Hi-Tech Labs, Projects and Hands on Experiences, so as to foster Knowledge in 'Engineering and Technology'.

Activities

Electrical & Electronics Engineers having prospects in power generation industries, Power Electronics Industries, Automation Industries, Electrical machine manufacture companies are spreadover entire country. The major companies are ABB, Crompton Greaves, Grieves India Ltd, L&T, Kirloskar, etc. Also they are invited to work in software industries and Robotics. In Addition to this, they are well-placed in state and central government Organizations and R & D Laboratories run by both Private and Public sectors.

Infrastructure
EEE
  • Adequate number of rooms for lectures, Seminars, Tutorials
  • The class rooms are exclusively allotted to 1st to 4th Year students for lectures.
  • The Optional Elective classes are engaged in the rooms available in the department.
  • Faculty uses instructional video CDs on the subject to teach the class.
  • Every lecture rooms are equipped with LCD projector. The Wi - Fi campus makes it easy for students to use on-line materials during presentations.
  • The Seminar and Smart Room is used for delivering technical Seminars and Project Review presentations.
Laboratory Facilities
  • A Power System Simulation Lab has been created in the department as per curriculum requirement
  • MATLAB and PSPICE Software are available on the server for use of students.
  • Power System Transient study software is to be installed.
Availabilities of Labs & student Project Lab with technical support:
  • The available Labs as per AU curriculum are supported by experienced Diploma holder technical staffs designated as Lab instructors. Out of the three staffs, one is an Engineering graduate in EEE and is pursuing M. Tech in Power Electronics and Drives under AU regulations. The departments and Labs in the institute work at times beyond the five working days for the benefit of the students.
  • The space for Project Lab is available in the vicinity of the existing EEE Labs. The department is gearing up to develop this Lab in the next semester.
  • It is also planned to use the Project Lab as Electrical- Electronic workshop for repairs and maintenance of meters, modules and instruments.
  • The man power proposed will cater, besides workshop related work, to the needs of the students during Mini- projects, Engineering Model making, Project Realization and Testing.
